5Hz for both GGA and VTG and the boat speed was 1m/s

Yes, we have got ok VTG data from these Emlid RTK-GPS.

This is from a distance made good test I did two months ago:

    • Two of the 370m transects plus a transect where I tested for GPS lag. VTG follows well.
    • I used a Emlid GPS and the RiverPro in the transects below.
    • The StreamPro was there to compare StreamPro bottom track with the GPS GGA track on the RiverPro.

In the examples below, speed and heading was steady prior to recording.

    Hi Ole, At SMHI (Sweden)

~>80% of our measurements. We use QRevINT for moving boat and it is mandatory.

~10% of our measuements. Stationary ADCP QRevINT MS – but not as mandatory, since its new, earlier years SxSpro. Most common we use stationary ADCP methods for correcting the long ice jams or in cases where moving boat fails for some reason.

~10% of our measurments. At shallower streams we use FlowTracker2 or salt dilution methods from Fathom QiQuac or Sommer.

No not really for us in Sweden. We got two and think they are fantastic. But alright, one did brake I remember, we got that one repaired. (just found info that we needed to change cable, connection problems)

The FT2 works also a lot better in clearer waters and picks up a higher SNR than the FT1.

in reply to: Waterproof remote for Remote control boats #283

Answer by E-mail from Xylem Nick Martin. Who is one of the creators of the rQPOD.

I have searched in the past for a waterproof remote but the only ones that I have found are for radio controlled cars and these are not suitable.

Most of the aeroplane/heli/drone remotes are not waterproof as it is dangerous to fly in the rain as the risk of loosing your model is very high so no one makes one.

We do however provide a cover which helps a lot but its not always practical.
